Dr. Sweet and his patient Lupe Otero were interviewed by the Chicago Tribune reproter Alexia Elejalde-Ruiz in an article examining the financial and emotional motivations of an egg donor. Interestingly, altruism was the primary motivator for most egg donors.

Dr. Sweet stressed that by reimbursing the egg donors too much, he may provide an inappropriate enticement to the potential donor. It was also suggested by Dr. Sweet that by increasing the reimbursement, we might make it more tempting for the donor to hide medical facts or embellish favorable attributes.
